Your Excursions

Durham City River Wear Cruise
We head to Browns Boathouse to board the Prince Bishop for our river cruise enjoying the very best views of Durham City’s landmarks along with live commentary. On board you’ll find a sun deck and a bar selling drinks and snacks. Afterwards, continue exploring Durham at your own pace. Don’t miss the World Heritage cathedral and castle.

Must sees include the haunting remains of the abbey which, along with twelfth century St Mary’s Church, inspired Bram Stoker’s gothic tale of Dracula. Perhaps follow in the footsteps of the great explorer Captain Cook at his harbourside house.

Barnard Castle
This enchanting must see market town is built around a twelfth century castle overlooking the tumultuous River Tees. Its delightfully distinctive streets are crammed with antique and local crafts shops as well as quirky treasures such as the bulletmarked market cross. The nearby Bowes Museum is a French-style chateau surrounded by gardens and housing decorative arts and is well worth a visit as is the medieval castle after which the town was named.
