The history-laden market town of Huntingdon spans the Roman Road called Ermine Street and is our base for this fascinating holiday. Birthplace of Oliver Cromwell, the town is home to attractions including a picturesque riverside park where you could perhaps take a boat trip or simply view the medieval bridge and the remains of a Norman motte and bailey castle. We visit classy Ely, home to a magnificent cathedral and a picturesque waterfront. We also spend a day in the handsome university city of Cambridge and explore the market town of Bury St Edmunds.

Your Excursions
Ely Cathedral & CityMagnificent Ely Cathedral dates from the eleventh century and dominates the cityscape with its distinct Octagon and West Towers. Afterwards, explore Ely at your own pace. Perhaps get an insight into seventeenth century life at the house where Cromwell once lived, discover the city’s history at the museum or just relax by the River Great Ouse.
Cambridge
Must see landmarks include King’s College Chapel, the Neo-Gothic Bridge of Sighs, the All Saints Church and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre – one of only four round churches in England. Perhaps treat yourself to a chauffeured punt on the River Cam.
Bury St Edmunds
We venture into Suffolk and to the historic market town of Bury St Edmunds where attractions include the ruins of an eleventh century Benedictine Abbey including its Great Gate, Norman Tower and church. Elsewhere, perhaps relax in Abbey Gardens with its formal grounds, aviary and café.
