This sightseeing getaway is based in Castlebar in County Mayo, a region rich in history, heritage and beautiful scenery. You’ll have free time to explore when you might like to stroll through Mayo Peace Park or wander around tranquil Lough Lannagh with its walking trails and picnic areas. We include a visit to the National Museum of Ireland in nearby Turlough village where you’ll find amazing collections of all things Irish. We venture out for guided tours of Westport House on one day and the city of Galway on another – followed by time to explore at your own pace.

GalwayGalway City beckons today. The old centre surrounds ancient Lynch’s Castle and a pedestrianised thoroughfare leads down to the thriving waterfront. Join our tour manager for a guided walking tour before exploring at leisure. Perhaps enjoy lunch in one of Galway’s countless eateries, take a harbour cruise, explore the city’s cobblestone streets, visit its imposing cathedral, or make the most of the varied shopping.
Westport
This lovely Georgian town is home to glorious churches, quaint avenues, a heritage centre and leafy forest walks. We have a guided tour of Westport House, one of Ireland’s best loved heritage attractions, it features sumptuously furnished period rooms, formal gardens, an aviary, mini railway and a sparkling lake with pedalos.
National Museum of Ireland & Castlebar
We visit the National Museum of Ireland, set in thirty acres of parkland featuring an ornamental lake and a splendid Victorian gothic mansion. Inside, you’ll find interesting exhibitions including the National Folklife Collection. Afternoon brings free time in Castlebar.
