Scotland boasts stunning scenery and some of its finest seascapes grace the awesome Ayrshire coast. Our base, the coastal town of Irvine, has a fascinating maritime museum and a stretch of sandy beach with views of Ailsa Craig. We spend a day on the bonnie Isle of Arran, dubbed “Scotland in Miniature” as it crams the best of the mainland into an area just twenty miles long and ten miles wide. On another day we sail to the atmospheric Isle of Bute, an island in the Firth of Clyde where you’ll find the main town and Victorian seaside resort of Rothesay. Our final excursion takes us to Loch Lomond Shores, an outstanding visitor destination located on the bonny, bonny banks.
Isle of Arran & Arran Aromatics
We hop aboard our ferry to Arran, the gem of the Firth of Clyde, where you’ll find an everchanging coastline, mighty mountains, sheltered coves and verdant forests. Here we call at Arran Aromatics, the world famous toiletry empire that started life in a cottage kitchen on the island back in 1989.
Isle of Bute
Enjoy a day discovering the idyllic Isle of Bute, a holiday haven where you’ll find the magnificent Esplanade Gardens alongside splendid architecture. The main town is the Victorian resort of Rothesay with its ancient castle housing dungeons and a grand hall. Perhaps visit Mount Stuart House, a neo-gothic mansion with extravagant interiors set in over three hundred acres of grounds encompassing landscaped gardens and wild woodland.
Loch Lomond Shores & Ayrshire Coast
This chic loch side shopping mall is a stunning tourist magnet on the shores of Loch Lomond. It features upscale boutiques and department stores as well as a range of eateries. After time to browse the stores, we enjoy a sightseeing drive along the breathtaking Ayrshire coast followed by some free time in the ancient coastal settlement of Irvine which has notable historical and maritime connections.
