Plan My Trip

Tucked away in the Cheshire countryside close to Nantwich, Grade II listed Alvaston Hall is a Victorian mansion with half-timbered framing, an eye-catching clock tower and impish gargoyles above the porch. A rather grand country house, it became the epicentre of Cheshire society towards the end of the nineteenth century. Inside you’ll find a splendid reception hall with a stained glass window and huge fireplace enhanced by intricate Italian ironwork. Alvaston’s attractively furnished bedrooms are located in a modern annex close to the historic manor. Great activities to keep you on your toes include archery, rifle shooting, table tennis, pilates, zumba and a nine hole golf course.

Your Excursions

Shrewsbury & River Severn Cruise
Shrewsbury is a splendid heritage site and home to over six hundred listed buildings. Impressive sights include St Chad’s Church with its distinctive round shape, an eleventh century abbey and a red sandstone castle that houses impressive art and historic artefacts. We include a sightseeing cruise on the River Severn where you can take in the sights and enjoy complimentary tea or coffee with biscuits as you listen to the entertaining commentary.

Free time to perhaps follow the time honoured tradition of hopping aboard a ferry across the Mersey then explore Albert Dock where you’ll find the Tate Liverpool, The Beatles Story, International Slavery Museum and the Merseyside Maritime Museum as well as a range of eateries.

We take in a half day trip to medieval Nantwich, set beside the River Weaver and famed for its Tudor architecture and winding lanes.
