We enjoy a tour of the picturesque Suffolk Coast making a stop in Southwold, with its painted beach huts and lovely pier. Following some free time here we continue our journey to the pretty village of Thorpeness, with its pretty mock Tudor houses and fairytale ‘House in the Clouds’. We enjoy free time here giving us chance to obtain lunch before heading to our final destination of the day, Aldeburgh, which retains features from a bygone era.
The Suffolk Wool Towns are some of the best-preserved historic towns and prettiest villages in Suffolk. We head to Lavenham, often referred to as ‘England’s Best-Preserved Medieval Village’, containing no less than 340 listed buildings. We have time here to explore before continuing to the pretty wool town of Clare, which boasts a wool church, priory, castle & country park. Our final destination of the Suffolk Wool Towns is Sudbury, with its charming views where we have time to explore before returning to the hotel.
We enjoy a visit to nearby Woodbridge, a historic market town located on the River Deben. We have time here to explore before continuing to the medieval town of Bury St. Edmunds, where you’ll find Suffolk’s only cathedral and a hotel, frequented by Charles Dickens, now a boutique inn with a trendy underground bar.
