Shetland Hotel, Lerwick ~ 3 Star
Situated in a lovely location overlooking the bay and only a few minutes walk into the centre of town. All of the modern bedrooms are en-suite and are equipped with TV, telephone, hairdryer and tea/coffee makers. The hotel offers a restaurant & bar. Lift.

Wednesday : We enjoy our outward journey making suitable stops en-route to Aberdeen for our overnight sailing to Lerwick. Dinner this evening is served on-board the ship.
Thursday : Remote Northern Islands ~ Following breakfast disembark the ferry and we meet up with our local, experienced guide. Our coach takes us on a tour of the Northern Isles – Yell & Unst. There will be a photo opportunityat the vast Sullom Voe Oil Terminal before catching the ferry to Yell. Here we include admission to The Old Haa Museum, Cullivoe – full of unusual artefacts from the lives of islanders. We then board the short ferry to Unst, with many beautiful beaches and home to the RAF for decades. A Light Lunch is included today. We see Muckle Flugga – the most northern tip of the UK, then Skidbladner – a replica Viking Long Ship. We make our way back to Lerwick and on to The Shetland Hotel for our 2 nights stay.
Friday : South & West Mainland ~ With our guide we enjoy a coastal tour towards Sumburgh Head RSPB, stopping at probably the best Beach on Shetland – St. Ninians. View cliff scenery, golden beaches & seabird colonies. Afterwards, we visit Viking Jarlshof archaeological site – one of Europe’s Largest and most complex sites spanning over 5000 years. We also take time to visit Croft House Museum, entry is included. Following a lunch break (not included) we enjoy a stop off to see the Shetland Ponies in the Tingwall Valley before arriving in Scalloway, former capital of Shetland, with its 15th century castle dominating the skyline. Here we visit the museum displaying local island exhibitions, history & folklore. We return to the hotel for evening meal.
Saturday : North Mainland & Return Ferry ~ Again with our guide we make our way to Voe & Brae & The ‘Drongs’ – a spectacular series of sea stacks. We visit Tangwick Haa Museum and enjoy a guided tour of Shetland Jewellery Workshop. We make our way back via Wormadale Viewpoint to Lerwick where there will then be free time before boarding the NorthLink Ferry for our overnight sailing to Aberdeen. Dinner on board the ferry this evening.
Sunday : Following breakfast this morning we disembark the ship and meet our coach. Taking the coastal road passing sandy St. Cyrus Beach, Montrose, Arbroath we head to Dundee, where we have included a visit to the V&A Museum. Following this visit we continue to our overnight hotel in time for Dinner this evening.
Monday : After breakfast this morning we leave the hotel and Scotland to make our journey home.Back to top
