We enjoy our included visit to Tredegar House, one of the architectural wonders of Wales and one of the most significant late 17th century houses in the whole of the British Isles. Situated in 90-acres of beautiful gardens and parkland, you can travel through the ages as you explore the majestic state rooms, exquisite bed chambers and humble service wing to discover the lives of those who made Tredegar House their home for more than 500 years. While here also enjoy the beautiful gardens & parkland. Following this visit we make our way to Barry Island with its sweeping promenade, golden beaches, vibrant beach huts, cafes & restaurants. We spend some free time here before returning to the hotel.
Tuesday: We make our way to the delightful town of Merthyr Tydfil, the rich built heritage bears testimony to the town’s past industrial wealth. Stroll through the streets and you’ll come across buildings, plaques and statues that hint at Merthyr Tydfil’s diverse past. Today is market day and the pedestrianised High Street is packed with colourful market stalls. We enjoy free time here to explore. In the afternoon we make our way to Penderyn Distillery where we enjoy an included tour and learn about the founding of Penderyn and how its award-winning whisky is made. Following the tour, we enjoy a couple of tastings in the Tasting Bar, prior to re-joining our coach for the return to the hotel.
We enjoy a visit to Dyffryn Gardens, a peaceful oasis on the outskirts of Cardiff. Dyffryn Gardens covers more than 55 acres where you can discover intimate garden rooms including the Pompeiian Garden, Paved Court, Reflecting Pool and Mediterranean Garden. You will also find a glasshouse, arboretum as well as a Victorian mansion to explore. Following this visit we make our way into the city of Cardiff with its unique attractions, quality shopping and where innovative architecture sits alongside historic buildings. Cardiff is a thriving city, rich in ancient history and a lovely city to visit.
