Rhs Garden Bridgewater
1 daysWelcome to RHS Garden Bridgewater. The herculean task of restoring, regenerating and replanting Bridgewater has been a labour of love for staff, volunteers and contractors. Their hard work, the vision of award-winning designers and the extraordinary heritage of the site has brought us to the point where we can open the gates to share this truly inspiring garden.
There is so much to see – the Weston Walled Garden contains multiple garden rooms, setting the tone for a journey of exploration with colourful themed borders, complementary sub-gardens each exploring a different horticultural style and characterful listed buildings. The wider woodland, meadows and lakes further your enjoyment.
RHS Director General Sue Biggs said the £35m garden was "the result of years of hard work". The charity said it was hoped a million people would visit the site annually.
A spokesman said the project had created more than 100 jobs, half of which were filled by locals living within five miles of the garden, and should generate about £13.2m a year by 2030.
In subsequent years parts of the grounds have been used as a garden centre, a Scout camp and a rifle range.Ms Biggs said the RHS and its partners, Salford City Council and Peel Group, were thrilled to be able to celebrate the "monumental achievement" of bringing the area back to life.
