Mercure Barons Court Hotel, Walsall ~ 3 Star
The Mercure Barons Court Hotel lies in the heart of England’s heartlands. The hotel dates back to 1901, and is run by local people, many of whom have worked there for many years and some for over 30! All of the modern bedrooms are en-suite and equipped with TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel offers a restaurant, bar and 2 nights entertainment. Lift.
We make our way to Stratford-upon-Avon, a town synonymous with William Shakespeare. There is so much to see and do here – why not take time to visit Shakespeare’s House, relax by the river, explore the shops or even head-off on the self-guided heritage trail. Following some free time here we continue to Warwick in time for our visit to Warwick Castle, a medieval castle developed from a wooden fort, originally built by William the Conqueror during 1068.
We enjoy the journey to Bridgnorth, where there will be some free time prior to making our way to the Severn Valley Railway, for our included single journey to Kidderminster. As we take a journey back in time, we pass through lovely Shropshire & Worcester countryside and through the town of Bewdley, with its quaint quayside, gardens and lovely Georgian architecture. Upon arrival in Kidderminster we enjoy some free time before re-joining our coach for the journey back to the hotel by road.
We head into Shropshire and on to the lovely town of Shrewsbury, packed with timber framed black & white buildings amongst narrow alleyways surrounded by the River Severn. During our day here, we enjoy an included 45-minute boat cruise on the River Severn taking in the beautiful views along the way. Tea/Coffee and biscuits are included during our cruise.
