Dukes Head Hotel, Kings Lynn ~ 4 Star
There can be few more imposing hotels in the east of England than the Dukes Head with its striking powder-blue façade and Georgian elegance. All of the characterful yet contemporary bedrooms are en-suite and have TV, hairdryer, telephone, free wifi and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel offers a restaurant, bar & terrace. Lift.
We make our way to Sandringham Estate for our included visit. This favourite retreat of Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family has been the private home of four generations of British monarchs since 1862. Set in 24 hectares of stunning gardens it is perhaps the most famous stately home in Norfolk. Following this visit we make our way to the seaside town of Hunstanton, which retains its Victorian charm & character.
This morning we make our way to the coast and on to Cromer, where we have time to explore this delightful resort. In the afternoon we combine a nostalgic steam train ride with a cruise on the Norfolk Broads. We make our way to Aylsham where we join the Bure Valley Railway for our scenic train journey to Wroxham where we re-join the coach and head to Wroxham Barns giving us free time. Later our coach transports us to meet the Mississippi Paddle Boat where we enjoy a relaxing 90-minute cruise on the Broads before returning to the hotel.
We enjoy our drive out as we make our way to Holkham Hall, for our included visit. Holkham Hall is a 18th century Palladian style mansion and home to seven generations of the Earls of Leicester. It is one of the Treasure Houses of England with its Marble Hall providing a spectacular entrance. Following this visit we make the short journey to Holt with its fine 18th century Georgian buildings. We enjoy free time here to explore before returning to the hotel.
