Clitheroe & Browsholme Hall Cream Tea
This morning we travel to the market town of Clitheroe and today is Market Day! Clitheroe dates back to Saxon times so by the time the imposing 12th Century Norman Castle that towers over the town had been built Clitheroe had already been around for nearly 1,000 years. Clitheroe is well known for its plethora of specialist shops – Cowman’s Famous Sausage Shop sells more than 75 sausage varieties while the Exchange Coffee Company stocks more than 35 coffees and 60 specialist teas.
From here, we continue to Browsholme Hall, a unique historic house, not least for its romantic picturesque gardens and remarkable antiquarian collection of possessions, accumulated over fourteen generations of continuous occupation by the family. We enjoy a guided tour of the Hall followed by a delicious Cream Tea before heading homeward.
