Day 3
Today we travel though the Portuguese countryside to the seaside resort of Figueira da Foz, the city at the mouth of the Mondego River with extensive beaches of soft white sand which invite for a relaxing holiday. Discover a unique blend between a real fishing port and the cosmopolitanism inherited from the Belle Époque era.

Enjoy a guided coach tour of the historic town of Porto, Portugal’s second city, with its beautiful buildings and atmospheric squares. We then visit Cais de Gaia for lunch; Gaia’s Wharf is nowadays transformed in a pleasant tourist area, endowed with wonderful esplanades, restaurants and bars, with a great view over the Porto’s historic centre. This afternoon we visit a port wine estate and learn the process of producing Port whilst enjoying a sample or two!

Lisbon city perfectly reflects the Portuguese culture, which embraces modern culture whilst maintaining its unique heritage and traditions. Today we visit Coimbra and enjoy a guided city tour by coach and on foot. Coimbra was the medieval capital of Portugal for over a hundred years, and is the site of the country’s greatest university for the past five centuries, Coimbra wears its weighty importance in Portuguese history with dignity. Its atmospheric, beautiful historic core cascades down a hillside in a lovely setting on the east bank of the Rio Mondego: it’s a multi-coloured collage of buildings spanning nearly a millennium.
