Lake Garda is the most popular of the Italian lakes and famed for its mild climate and beauty. One of its attractions is the great diversity between the vineyards that fringe the south-eastern shores to the majestic mountains that plunge dramatically into the crystalline waters to the north. The landscape has the feel of the Mediterranean, with palms and citrus trees among olive groves and vines. Riva del Garda is the Northern most town on the shores of Lake Garda. Bardolino is one of the best-known of the Lake Garda resorts, mainly due to the wine made from the grapes grown in the surrounding hillsides and offers visitors a traffic-free centre with numerous bars, restaurants and shops. Alternatively, Desenzano is a charming village and a very popular bathing resort with a thriving nightlife.

Complete the journey to Lake Garda.

Explore the intricate labyrinth of canals and bridges, elegant piazzas and abundance of beautiful churches. The main shopping is in the Mercerie, which links the two focal points of the city, the Rialto Bridge and St Mark’s Square. Here the Doges’ Palace, St Mark’s Basilica and the Campanile Bell Tower never fail to impress. (Please note the private boat transfer is not included in the price of your holiday).Verona and SirmioneWe travel to Verona, the city of Romeo and Juliet. Take a stroll around the Roman Forum in Piazza delle Erbe, surrounded by a variety of palaces and towers. The historic Arena is home to the opera in summer and the famous balcony, Casa de Giulietta, provides an ideal photo opportunity. Sirmione is dominated by its 13th century castle and narrow streets lined with shops, cafes and tempting ice cream parlours.Lake TourWe include a leisurely tour of the more populated eastern shores of the lake travelling through many of the picturesque villages.

Continue to Calais and complete the journey home.
