This morning we travel to stunning Kylemore Abbey – home of Benedictine Nuns since 1920, the nuns have restored the Abbey, Gothic Church and beautiful 6 acre Victorian Walled Garden which is divided in two by a mountain stream. Hear all about the history in the new visitor experience and perhaps enjoy some lunch in the stylish café. From here we enjoy the scenery of Connemara as we travel to Clifden to spend the afternoon in this delightful town that’s sits right on the edge of Europe
It’s an Island adventure kind of day today, we start with a 15 minute sail to Clare Island – famous as the ancestral home of legendary Pirate Queen Grace O’Malley and just 5 miles by 3 miles for such a small place its packed with history & culture. Our local guide will give us a heritage talk, we’ll visit the castle and have some free time to wander around the picturesque harbour before enjoying lunch at Sailors Bar. We then catch the early afternoon ferry across to Achill Island and spend free time in Keel which boasts a beautiful 3km sandy beach. We head back to the mainland via the road bridge and stunning scenery.
Back to Dublin for our ferry to Holyhead and then onward home.
