We head north into Scotland for our ferry to Belfast and then continue on to Derry-Londonderry where we spend 3 nights.
We join ‘one of the most beautiful train journeys in the World’ according to Michael Palin. Travelling from Derry to Coleraine, on one side of the track you have unspoilt beaches whilst on the other enjoy stunning mountain scenery – a spectacular journey. This afternoon we visit the stunning Giants Causeway – Norther Irelands only UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hear the mysteries and stories in the Visitor Centre and marvel as the Atlantic Waves crash against the Basalt stone columns.
A local guide meets us this morning for a walking tour of the City, see the historic City Walls, Peace Bridge and much more. The afternoon is them free for you to explore at your own pace, maybe head to the neo-gothic Guildhall which offers free entrance
We leave Derry this morning and move on towards Belfast. En-route we visit the Seamus Heaney Homeplace and discover the moving story of Ulster’s brilliant Nobel-prize winning poet & playwright. We’ll have lunch at the authentic Old Thatched Inn before arriving into Belfast
We begin our day with a visit to the Queen’s official Northern Ireland Residence – Hillsborough Castle, we enjoy a guided tour of this Georgian Country House and gardens. This afternoon we visit the incredible Titanic Experience. Housed in an iconic 6 floor building the attraction tells of the story of the ‘unsinkable ship’ from her conception, through her construction, to her launch in 1911 and her famous maiden voyage and tragic end.
We say a fond farewell to Northern Ireland and catch the ferry back to Cairnryan then onward home
