A classic Holland Experience today starts as we join our nostalgic steam train as it meanders through the towns of Hoorn, Medemblik and Enkhuizen and takes in the scenery of Westfrisian countryside, we then board an old-fashioned steam boat for a sail along the coast of Lake Ijsselmeer. We’re not done yet though we then head to Zaanse Schans - one of the highlights of the Netherlands, this community dates back to the 18th & 19th Centuries and is packed with typical Dutch Wooden architecture with Windmills, museums and houses, traditional crafts are taking place such as clog and cheese making. Our final stop for the day is Volendam, explore the harbour area with old fishing boats and souvenir shops
The City of Amsterdam – there’s so much to do in the City, where do we start, with a cruise along the canals that’s where, see the historic canal houses with their decorated facades and enjoy a laid back sail watching the World go by. This afternoon is free to do as you please. Dam Square is a popular choice and the many museums around the City are also worth a visit
We have a relaxing morning then visit the Cheese making town of Gouda, there’s more to this town than just cheese, it has one of the most beautiful historic city centres in Holland, full of splendid monumental buildings to admire and ancient canals with attractive terraces. We continue to Rotterdam for our overnight ferry back to Hull, 2 berth cabins are included along with breakfast, evening meal can be pre booked at a supplement.
Arriving into Hull this morning we enjoy breakfast before disembarking and make our way back to the North West for around lunchtime.
