Day One
Heading North of the border to our first hotel in Motherwell where we spend two nights
Day Two
Glasgow's river Clyde was a hub for steamships and even to this day the famous Waverly can be seen sailing "doon the water" at certain times of the year. Our day starts with a private meet and greet at the Riverside museum giving a brief but informative insight into the hundreds of pieces of unique transport housed there; a true Scottish treasure. Nearby is one of Scotland's newest distilleries. The owner's ambition was to return the distilling of single malt to the city. In 2021 he succeeded along with restoring the dock his great grandfather built. Hearing the story about the love that has gone into the restoration will mean the whisky tasting won't be the only thing warming the heart that day.
Day Three
Gliding through the scenic Trossachs to take our seat onboard the SS Walter Scott, one of the oldest steamships in the world. Cruise the beautiful waters of Loch Katrine whilst listening to the tales & legends of the loch narrated by a crew member. We continue through Rob Roy MacGregor country to Callander for our lunch stop, then onward into the Highlands to Newtonmore for the next three nights.
Day Four
Time free in Aviemore, before boarding the Strathspey Railway for the 45-minute journey through spectacular Speyside mountainous scenery. Brought back to life in 1978 by a group of volunteers experience the golden age of steam whilst aboard. After lunch travel North through Grantown on Spey to a local whisky distillery for a tour and tasting. Will the train be the only steaming part of the day
Day Five
Join the Jacobite Steam Train in Fort William on the two-hour journey to Mallaig, absorbing beautiful views of lochs, mountains, Glenfinnan Viaduct and the small Isles of Eigg, Muck and Rum. After enjoying time in Mallaig the road journey back in your coach is very different with a stop off in Glenfinnan to see Bonnie Prince Charlie's monument, the massive viaduct & Loch Shiel.
Day Six
We return home and back to the north west for around 6pm
