This morning we travel around Swansea Bay to take in the wonder of the Gower Peninsular and enjoy the amazing views of wild moors and limestone cliffs to golden, sandy beaches. We spend the afternoon in Mumbles, this cosy and cosmopolitan seaside town is steeped in history and tradition with a Victorian Pier, Lighthouse dating back to 1794 and Oystermouth Castle. There’s plenty of shops and eateries too.
Another day of scenery today as we head for the Rhondda Valley, home of world-renowned male voice choirs, brass bands and a proud coal-mining heritage. It is also a place of natural beauty with forest and hillside overlooking the valley communities of terraced housing that in places cling precipitously to the hillside our first stop is the Heritage Park and Welsh MiningMuseum. Hear about life in the Mines from an ex Miner and enjoy the exhibitions before we continue our scenic drive. Our afternoon stop will be in the Queen of the Valleys – Aberdare.
A morning visit to the fascinating Museum of Welsh Life is followed by a trip to the seaside and Barry Island, this popular holiday resort is more famous these days as the setting for TV’s Gavin & Stacey.
