The County of Northumberland offers a fascinating contrast of beautiful unspoilt coastlines, an abundance of Ancient history, imposing Castles and stunning. Our five day holiday is based in the buzzing city of Newcastle and will take in the very best of the area including the spectacular Castles of Bamburgh and Alnwick along with its stunning Garden, unique Holy Island and we include a visit to the cathedral city of Durham.

Day One
En-route to our hotel we visit the wonderful City of Durham. This ancient city - once home of the Prince Bishops offers the pretty winding streets leading up from the river to the stunning Cathedral and Castle which are World Heritage Sites and when you see then you'll know why
Excursion 1
We head to the pretty town of Alnwick today, with twisting cobbled streets with an eclectic collection of individual shops and best known of course for its spectacular Castle and the Alnwick Garden, entrance to both is included. The Castle, dubbed as Windsor of the North has been in the Percy family - Dukes of Northumberland since 1309, more recently it was featured as Harry Potters Hogwarts whilst The Alnwick Garden - a once forgotten plot is the vision of The Duchess of Northumberland's and offers a fascinating experience full of imagination, inspiration and fun, with the Serpent Garden's spell-binding water sculptures, a tranquil Cherry Orchard, the amazing Grand Cascade, Bamboo Labyrinth, and intriguing Poison Garden and don't forget one of the world's largest tree houses
Excursion 2
Enjoy free time around Newcastle today with an included sail on the famous River Tyne, taking in the views of the historic landmarks, the Tyne Gorge and the many bridges.
Excursion 3
To the stunning Coast today, our first stop is Bamburgh, for our included visit to the spectacular Castle which dominates the beautiful coastline and is the former Royal fortress for the Kings of Northumbria. We then continue to historic Holy Island crossing the causeway to visit this unique island. Tidal restrictions may require us to visit Holy Island in the morning with Banburgh castle in the afternoon.
Day Five
Returning home we enjoy a photo stop at the iconic 'Angle of the North' and visit the lovely town of Barnard Castle for our lunch stop
