Mothers Day Special - Durham & The Alnwick Garden
We're heading to the North East for our 2025 Mother's Day Special which as always will be escorted by Carol & the Mother of David Ogden Holidays - Joan. Our weekend break will visit the lovely City of Durham, with a free time to explore the UNESCO World Heritage quarter along with a lovely sail on the River Wear to get a view of the Castle & Cathedral from a different aspect. We'll stay in the lovely town of Alnwick and visit the stunning Alnwick Garden where we also include a delicious afternoon tea.

PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
Day One
We travel to Durham and on arrival we'll enjoy a lovely sail along the River Wear on board the Prince Bishop River Cruiser offering spectacular views of historic Durham City, Cathedral, Castle and Bridges. Free time in this historic City is also given before we head to our hotel for our overnight stay
Day Two
A relaxing start and a short hop to the Alnwick Garden, we'll have time to explore this wonderful and unique, contemporary garden that was created by the Duchess of Northumberland in 2001. Lose yourself in the mysterious Bamboo Labyrinth, explore the perils of The Poison Garden or gaze upon the Grand Cascade. The Garden’s history is still honoured through the traditional Ornamental Garden and mesmerising Rose Garden. Our visit here ends with a delicious Afternoon Tea before we set off for home with a lovely sceninc drive.

The White Swan Hotel * * *
The White Swan Hotel is a charming 300 year old coaching inn, set in the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick. All bedrooms feature TV, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer & iron can be reached by the magnificent aft staircase, salvaged from the illustrious British vessel, the RMS Olympic. The hotel is renowned for its magnificent Olympic Suite restaurant, which features actual décor from the Titanic's sister ship. No lift, limited ground floor rooms available and are accessed via the hotels garden.
