The 100 mile long Northumberland Coast is a Designated Area Of Outstanding Beauty, sweeping from historic Berwick upon Tweed to Tynemouth, our holiday base. Our weekend break includes visits to unique Holy Island, accessed by a causeway and Bamburgh with its imposing castle. We'll also be seeing Durham, Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall.

Day One
We head off to Durham to enjoy free time in this historic city. With the famous Cathedral dominating the skyline, and the historic University buildings and Castle adding to the atmosphere, Durham is a lovely City to explore. We then head to pur hotel to settle in beofre dinner
Day Two
We enjoy a morning stop in Alnwick, with its famous Castle (Harry Potter’s Hogwarts) and gardens. We continue to Holy Island where we enjoy free time on this stunning and unique Island. We journey next to Bamburgh to enjoy the magnificent views of the sweeping beach and Castle and then continue along the coastal road enjoying the spectacular views along the way. Please note depending on tidal times it may be necessary to visit Holy Island in the morning & Alnwick in the afternoon
Day Three
We drive along the A69 joining the B318 at Chesters Fort on the site of Hadrian’s Wall. We follow the Wall to Housteads where we enjoy a short break. We then drive to historic Carlisle for some free time before heading back to Poplar Services, arriving here at approx. 6pm

Set amidst sprawling grounds in a peaceful location on the outskirts of Newcastle, the Holiday Inn offers leisure facilities including swimming pool, sauna, steam room & spa bath along with an open lobby concept, comprising of Starbucks to Go Café, bar and dining area. Bedrooms are modern and offer TV, tea/coffee making facilities, Wi-Fi.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
