Babbacombe - Turkey & Tinsel Break
Babbacombe is one of the oldest resorts in Devon and still retains lots of its charm from Victorian times. From Babbacombe Downs there are superb views over Lyme Bay and the surrounding countryside, and a cliff-top railway runs down to Oddicombe Beach, backed by red sandstone cliffs, and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole of the West Country. The St. Mary Shopping Centre and the famous Model Village are both nearby and Torquay town centre is just a few minutes bus ride away.

A leisurely scenic drive along the Devon coast takes us to the delightful little resorts of Teignmouth and Dawlish whose seafront esplanade stretches for almost 2 miles. Firstly we visit the charming 18th century resort of Dawlish where Dawlish Water runs through the town with lovely miniature gardens complete with cascading waterfalls. We then continue onto Teignmouth, with its safe sheltered beach and pleasant promenade.
Our lovely afternoon drive takes us to the stunning Buckfast Abbey, the only English Monastery to have been restored after the Dissolution and then used again for its original purpose.
Anchorage Hotel * * *
The Anchorage Hotel in Babbacombe is a popular holiday choice. The hotel's owners, the Page-Dove family, are keen to make sure your holiday is a happy one and they place a strong emphasis on both friendly service and good food offering varied menus to whet your appetite. The hotel is close to the bowling green, so it is level around the grounds. The hotel is an ideal location to explore this beautiful region without having to be too energetic. Highly recommended by David and many clients.
