Day Three
Enjoy a morning sailing and we arrive into Rudesheim approx. 11am and stay until 6pm - The town describes its biggest attraction, the world-famous Drosselgasse, as ‘144 metres of joie de vivre’. This centre of Rhine Romanticism once inspired poets and musicians – it was here that Brahms composed his Symphony No. 3. Rüdesheim is the best-known spot in the Rheingau and has plenty of cultural attractions, including stately homes and fortifications. And no visit to the towns and countryside of this area of the Rhine would be complete without a Rüdesheim coffee, which was invented here.
Day Four
We arrive into Germersheim at 8am - Welcome to the Upper Rhine. Germersheim is only about 20 km from the city of Speyer and an optional excursion will be offered today. Speyer is over 2000 years old and is Germany’s oldest planned medieval town. Speyer’s most prominent monument is its cathedral. As one of the country’s most important High Romanesque cathedrals, it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You are sure to have an enjoyable day in Speyer. Our ship leaves Germersheim at 7pm
Day Five
We have a morning sailing and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the lovely Rhine Valley around 2pm we arrive into Breisach. The little town of Breisach perches on a steep cliff along the Rhine, to the south-west of the Kaiserstuhl hills. Its main landmark is the cathedral, Münster Sankt Stephan. Set high above the town on a hill, the church overlooks the Rhine valley, housing an impressive collection of artworks. Geldermann, a well-known producer of sparkling wine, is also based here. A visit to Breisach is an absolute must during your Rhine cruise.
Day Six
This morning (8am) we arrive into Strasbourg - a centre of European policymaking. With its medieval half-timbered houses and its elegant city palaces, Strasbourg really stands out from the crowd. But the highlight is the cathedral. From its viewing platform, the city’s half-timbered houses appear as small as pieces from a model railway set. Enjoy your day in the French part of the Rhine region! we leave at 7pm
Day Seven
Today we spend the day in Mainz - arriving at 7am and staying until 11pm you'll have plenty of time to explore - with 2,000 years of history, Mainz is not just one of the oldest cities in Germany – it is also a place where you can see history come alive wherever you turn.
Day Eight
Another of Germany's oldest cities today - Koblenz. Its history dates back over 2,000 years, and one of its most picturesque, with a wealth of sights and cultural attractions. Marvel at Koblenz’s palaces, stately homes, grand townhouses, narrow lanes and romantic corners. And watch as our A-ROSA ship sails close to the famous Deutsches Eck headland. We arrive at 7am and leave at 9.30pm.
Day Nine
We disembark in Cologne this morning and journey back to the Netherlands and to Rotterdam for our overnight sailing back to Hull. All facilities and cabin details as per your outward journey
Day Ten
Arriving back into Hull this morning, we enjoy breakfast before re-joining our coach for the short journey back to the North West, arriving back around lunchtime.
