We've a lovely new summer holiday for you based in the heart of Bedford, Joan & David visited Bedford in 2025 and were pleasantly surprised by what the town had to offer, so in true Ogden style we've added a holiday for you all to enjoy. We have put a lovely itinerary together which includes free time in the town, a wonderful sail along the River Great Ouse, and visits to stunning St. Albans, the impressive French-Renaissance-style Chateaux - Waddesdon Manor and the Spencer family home of Althorp.

Day One
We head to our hotel in Bedford enjoying our lunch-stop in lovely Lichfield.
Day Two
Today we visit wonderful Waddesdon Manor, a French Renaissance-style chateau, built in the 1870s by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild to entertain the fashionable world and house his impressive art collection. During your visit see the stunning interior with spectacular artworks, antique furniture and dazzling displays, the grounds and gardens are also a marvellous spectacle to enjoy and imagine being an invited guest to one of the many weekend parties back in the late 1800's. Following our visit here we pop in to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre - a working steam museum and heritage railway, an extensive 25-acre site amid beautiful countryside, with its stunning, glass-roofed Visitor Centre taking centre stage, there's also a large Museum full of railway artefacts large and small!
Day Three
Enjoy a free morning around vibrant Bedford today and it's market day!!! Early afternoon be back at the hotel for our transfer to the Priory Marina to board our 2pm River Cruise on board the John Bunyan Community Boat. Our 2 hour sail includes a 'cream tea in a box' and sails from the Marina into the heart of Bedford and back again taking 2 hours in total and a lovely way to see more of the area, going through Bedford Town Lock, under Town Bridge, passing Sovereigns Quay and under County Bridge before returning.
Day Four
Today we head to the historic Cathedral City of St. Albans for a full day excursion
Day Five
Returning back to the North West with a visit to Althorp which has been home to the Spencer family for more than 500 years, and contains a fascinating variety of pictures, furniture, ceramics and fine interiors. We return to the North West for around 4.30pm.
