Wensleydale Railway, Wensleydale Creamery & Grassington
Join the Wensleydale line at Bedale,(fare inc.) where volunteers have restored the station to its former glory. Bedale is a small Georgian market town, one of the gateways to the dales with many listed buildings and the Church of St. Gregory on the main street. Sit back and enjoy the scenery through to Redmire on the edge of the National Park. Onward through the Yorkshire Dales to Hawes where you can learn how Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese is produced at the Creamery and discover its captivating and often emotional story. Their new interactive experience will take you on a journey in the art of cheese-making, from monastic times through the centuries to today. It also includes the opportunity to watch Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese being handcrafted by a team of master cheese-makers. Entry includes tea and a scone. Our final visit today is the popular village of Grassington, certainly a beautiful village in Upper Wharfedale's stunning scenery, but it's far more than that. Whether it's the sense of history, or perhaps the great shops, the friendly pubs, or the welcoming locals, who knows? They all contribute to the magic of this place.
KWVR - Keighley & Worth Valley Railway
Oxenhope is the terminus of the Railway in the shadow of the surrounding moors. The goods shed, extended in the early days of preservation, is now the main site for the restoration and servicing of the carriages and goods vehicles in regular use on the Railway. Some free time in Keighley after.
Day 4 With fond memories of your weekend head back to interchange with an interesting stop on the way.
