Rolling hills, bubbling cider and charming villages can only mean one thing…the lovely South West county of Somerset! From our base in the nostalgic resort of Weston-super-Mare, we enjoy a magical journey through the Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, stopping off in olde-worlde Wells, on our way to the county town of Taunton with a visit the award-winning, family-run Sheppy’s Cider Farm for a tasting and a Cream Tea! (2024 only)
This special break to the annual Winter Carnival with stunning illuminated floats with up to 25,000 light bulbs brightening up a wintery Friday night – passes by our hotel.

Your Itinerary
.DAY 1 - After joining your holiday coach, travel to Weston-super-Mare pausing en-route for refreshments. Continue to arrive at the hotel late afternoon to check in for 3 nights with tea and coffee on arrival and plenty of time to prepare for dinner. DBB Christmas themed dinner on Saturday night.
Carnival - Friday night sees plenty of action in Weston-super-Mare as the popular carnival arrives in town. Illuminated floats, marching bands, fancy dress walkers and entertainers will wend their way through the town this evening from about 7.15pm
DAY 2 - 3 At leisure in Weston-super-Mare with two included excursions
All weather attractions include the Grand Pier, the Weston Museum and the world's largest dedicated Helicopter Museum (entrances not included). There is a wide and varied programme of entertainment at the Playhouse Theatre and the Winter Gardens to suit all ages

Cheddar Gorge & Wells (2023 only)
Journey through the Mendip Hills to the famous Cheddar Gorge. Explore Britain's biggest gorge from the dramatic cliffs rising 450ft to the stunning stalactite caverns. Travel onto pretty Wells which enjoys the title of England’s smallest city thanks to its magnificent medieval cathedral. Cobbled streets bursting with olde worlde architecture radiate out from the cathedral green to the marketplace, the bustling heart of this miniature city, nestled at the foot of the Mendip Hills
Glastonbury & Street (2023 & 2024)
Head to Glastonbury, on the edge of the unique stretch of countryside known as the Somerset Levels. The land around the town is flat, allowing you to spot the mystical Glastonbury Tor, rising up from sea level behind the town and of course, Glastonbury is well known for its ancient and medieval sites, many rich in myth as well as for its famous music festival. Calling into Street with it’s many churches, the oldest being the Church of the Holy Trinity, a Grade I listed building which dates from the 14th century amongst many High Street shops & on the site of the old Clarks factory stands one of Somerset’s premier tourist attractions, Clarks Village outlet shopping centre, the first purpose-built factory outlet in the UK.
Wells & Sheppy’s House of Cider (2024 only)
After breakfast all aboard for a short drive to Wells, England’s smallest city! Cobbled streets burst with olde worlde charm and the magnificent medieval cathedral is a must see. Early afternoon depart for Taunton for your 30 minute guided tasting followed by 2 Scone Cream Tea. Entrance, tasting and Cream Tea included. Returning to the hotel late afternoon.
DAY 4 - After a leisurely breakfast, drive to Marlborough with ample time for sightseeing and refreshments. Later continue homewards to arrive early to mid-evening.

Situated in a prime sea-front location with magnificent views across Weston Bay and beyond, Smiths Hotel offers a warm welcome, friendly service and comfortable accommodation.

All 50 bedrooms have been recently refurbished and offer private facilities (mostly with walk-in shower), TV and tea/coffee making.
