INCLUDED EXCURSIONS

Pennine Explorer – Rail & Sail

Off to Embsay today for a ride back in time behind a vintage steam locomotive. Breathe in the evocative smells and thrill to the puffing and hissing of the steam engine. Settle back in beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages and enjoy a unique view of some of Yorkshire’s finest countryside on a round trip via Bolton Abbey. Then it’s off to Skipton – a town with immense history, a rich culture, independent shops, food & drink places galore, a famous market, an iconic castle, stunning countryside and, perhaps most of all, friendly, fiercely proud and passionate Yorkshire people. Enjoy an included trip aboard a narrow boat on the Leeds to Liverpool Canal to gain an insight into the town’s central role in the busy waterways of the industrial revolution. Wednesday is market day in Skipton and if you love a bargain and are partial to some delicious local produce, traditional Skipton Market is for you.

Harewood House & Harrogate

Harewood is one of the Treasure Houses of England with rolling ‘Capability’ Brown landscapes, an impressive art collection, exquisite Chippendale furniture and fabulous Robert Adam interiors. It was transformed into Buckingham Palace for series 1 & 2 of the ITV flagship period drama, ‘Victoria’. All this combines with 100 acres of award-winning gardens and a renowned lakeside Bird Garden. Your visit includes the State Rooms, Below Stairs, the Gardens and the Terrace Gallery. Spend some free time in elegant Harrogate with its lovely Victorian arcades and colourful Valley Gardens.

DAY 5 – Your homeward journey today features a stop in the Yorkshire Sculpture Park near Wakefield. The park’s collection features works by British and international artists, including Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. Return to interchange later and onto your hometowns mid evening.
