Thru' the Decades Itinerary

.Day 1 - Board your holiday coach and continue onwards north with ample courtesy stops on the way. Arrive at the 4* Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hall Hotel & Spa late afternoon for the next 3 nights with porterage on arrival. DBB

The weekend includes live tribute acts each evening spanning the decades - 50s Elvis Presley tribute / 60s Tom Jones Tribute / 70s Abba Tribute. It is music, singing and dancing all the way! Dinner is taken in the hotel's main function suite

Day 2 - A relaxed start today before you head off to Helmshore Mills Textile Museum which consists of two historic mills located in a quiet village location in the stunning Rossendale Valley. Enjoy a guided tour to discover history of the Lancashire Textile Industry from pre-industrial cottage industry to the woollen and cotton industries of the industrial revolution. The site is fully accessible and features two mills - a working cotton mill from the 1820s and a water powered wool fulling mill of 1789. Highlights include the 20 Ton Water Wheel and the working cotton spinning machinery which demonstrate a started carder, finishing carder and a spinning mule. Tea/coffee and biscuits are included.

Head up the road to Oswaldtwistle Mills, a former weaving mill and now an award-winning shopping village which includes over 100 retailers all under one roof, 3 Restaurants, extensive Home, Lifestyle & Garden Centre, Large Fashion Floor, Giftware Centre and Food Deli. After time for lunch and a browse, re-board the coach for a guided tour of Pendle Witch Country. In the Pendle villages of Roughlee and Barley, you'll learn of the sad tale of those who were accused, tried and found guilty of witchcraft in 1612.  Admire the magnificent scenery, gaze at the moody hulk of Pendle Hill and see the 'Eye of God' in the tower of St Mary's church.

Day 3 - Off to Blackpool today, unashamedly brash and full of old-school amusements and entertainment! Daytime is playtime with all the fun of the Tower, Pleasure Beach and the Golden Mile. With seven miles of beach - the tide ebb is half a mile, leaving plenty of sand at low tide - a revamped prom, excellent seafront tram and an increasingly attractive, gentrified centre, there is more to Blackpool than just amusements. You may like to visit Showtown - the Museum of Fun & Entertainment. Right next door to the Tower, this side-tickling, eye-popping, toe-tapping museum tells the story of Blackpool and the comedians, dancers, acrobats, performers and larger-than-life characters who turned a seaside resort into the home of show business (Entrance not included - approx. £9.50 pp in 2025)

Day 4 - Enjoy breakfast, check out and re-join the coach for your journey back to the local area. Comfort stops will be made before you reach interchange. Back to top

Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh – Clayton Le Moors 

The 4* Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa is set inside a beautiful 700-year-old country manor house. The building retains many of its original features, including turrets, porticos and a vast staircase plus new extensions sympathetically added. The hotel was completely refurbished in 2020 and is set amongst the iconic Lancashire countryside with its own extensive landscaped grounds.

The courtyard spa and leisure facilities offer a full range of professional treatments (additional charge), an impressive heated indoor pool and modern fitness centre.

Guestrooms are located in several different areas of the hotel including the courtyard (external access / no lift), the main hotel (no lift and some stairs) and a lift accessible block approx 5-10 mins from public areas. Rooms are classic in style with TV, ironing facilities, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities.

There is a restaurant and bar. The lift serves just one part of the hotel (but not all rooms) and there are some ground floor rooms.

Singles are doubles / twins for sole use
