CHESHIRE - Lyme House & Park and Buxton
Lyme House and Gardens was the film location for 'Pemberley' in the 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice starring Colin Firth, which made it one of the most famous stately home images in England. Right on the edge of the Peak District and nestling within sweeping moorland, step back in time to the Regency era at Lyme Park, a magnificent 1,400 acre estate with lavish interiors, exquisite furnishings, elegant Rose Garden and wonderful deer park. Lyme has been built and rebuilt, embellished and enlarged throughout its ownership by the Legh family, over six centuries with each generation making its mark and creating the house you see today. (NB the house is arranged over 3 floors - no lift access. There is an accessible route around the garden). The historic garden at provides a carefully cultivated contrast to the rugged and wild moorland beyond its confines and as the second highest in the National Trust, flowers often bloom later at Lyme.
After your visit to Lyme House either return to the hotel to relax and enjoy the excellent facilities or take a stroll in the grounds. Alternatively spend the afternoon with a visit to lovely Buxton, 'capital' of the Peak District with its natural springs, Georgian architecture, charming arcades and classic Pavilion Gardens.
DERBYSHIRE - Chatsworth House & Gardens and Bakewell
Glorious Chatsworth House, the lavish stately home with its noted art and furniture collection, stands on the east bank of the River Derwent and is set in extensive parkland. Known as the 'Palace of the Peak', this immense edifice is the seat of the Duke of Devonshire and has been home to the Cavendish family since 1549. It is one of the UK's favourite stately homes and inside, you will find lavish apartments and mural-painted staterooms, packed with priceless paintings and period furniture. Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned at Chatsworth on the orders of Elizabeth I in 1569. There is plenty to explore in the 105 acre Chatsworth Garden - from the Victorian rock garden to the water features and the Old Duke's Glasshouse. Entrance to the house and gardens is included. (NB there is a lift in the house if required as well as an accessible route around the gardens). Head back to the hotel with a stop in the pretty market town of Bakewell, birthplace of the delicious Bakewell pudding, and boasting charming honey-coloured buildings, cosy courtyards, historic alms houses and a quaint five-arched Roman bridge over the River Wye.

Experience the craftsmanship of the world-famous Jasperware and marvel at the extraordinary skills of the craftsmen as they throw, turn, cast, and ornament iconic pieces when the factory is in operation. Visit the flagship factory outlet store where you can find discontinued collections and factory seconds from some of the UK's most iconic homeware brands, all under one roof. There is a tearoom on site NB entrance to the V&A collection is not included. Continue just down the road to the Trentham Estate, 725 acres of spectacular natural beauty and home to award-winning gardens and glorious ancient woodland. The Italian Gardens offer perennial planting within a historic framework, while the lakeside walks unfold through meadows, woodland and water where you may see an array of wildlife.
