Summertime Devon - Coast to Coast
Day 1 - Head southwest with suitable refreshment stops en-route to arrive at your hotel in Tiverton with time to freshen up before dinner. Check in for 4 nights with a welcome tea / coffee on arrival. DBBA fun quiz will be distributed today which you may like to complete (either on your own or perhaps team up with a fellow traveller) for a chance to win a £20 Crusader Holidays voucher. Day 2 - 4 - At leisure in Tiverton with three included excursions

Sidmouth
It is the turn of South Devon today as you head to the stately resort of Sidmouth, a seaside town like no other, for a slice of old England with its Regency history, award-winning beaches, majestic red cliffs and elegant buildings. Poet Laureate, John Betjeman, described the town as being caught in timeless charm, after he was captivated by its beautiful gardens, leisurely walks, clean beaches and Regency history. The friendly faces, fresh air, lovely scenery and abundance of attractions makes Sidmouth a wonderful place to recharge the batteries
Horse Drawn Canal Barge - Tiverton
After a relaxed morning, it is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel to the Grand Western Canal to board one of the last horse-drawn barges in the UK and experience a totally natural, serene and peaceful 90-minute cruise (the barge has no engine). The skipper will introduce the crew, and during the voyage he will share some interesting stories and anecdotes about the canal, horses and history. Travel 200 years into the past at two miles per hour, with the gentle rhythmic clip clop of horse's hooves ... the ripples of the water gently disturb the sunlight, as you listen to birdsong and the occasional call from waterfowl. The brightly coloured flag iris, lilies, damsel & dragonflies catch your eye, as you slowly pass by . . . You can't help but drift off into the past and imagine the canal of yesteryear. Refreshments are available on board. The remainder of the day is at leisure in Tiverton for you to explore at your own pace. The Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life is open Tues - Sat (admission £8.50 pp in 2025) and is a treasure trove of fascinating objects and quirky artefacts that weave incredible stories about the people who lived here everything from lace making to laundry, bicycles to brewing and carts to costume
West Somerset Railway & Scenic North Devon
The West Somerset Railway is a true country branch line of the old Great Western Railway, full of fascination with a nostalgic ride that will take you back in time through lovely countryside. Board the train in Bishops Lydeard, then sit back and enjoy the view of the gently rolling Quantock hills as well as over the Bristol Channel as an historic locomotive (may be steam or diesel) takes you on the 20-mile scenic journey to Minehead with all its seaside charm. After some free time in Minehead, it's back on the coach for a gloriously panoramic drive over Porlock Hill along the coastline line to the twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth. Picturesque Lynmouth seems worlds away from modern living with its rows of charming fishing cottages and shops that cluster around the pretty harbour of gently bobbing boats. Lynton perched high above, is a vibrant Victorian village retaining a quaint mix of times present and times past. The two are elegantly connected by the Cliff Railway (fare not included - approx. £3.75 one way in 2025), the highest and steepest fully water powered Victorian railway in the world! Head back to Tiverton through Exmoor keeping an eye out for those delightful ponies on the way!

The 3* low-rise Tiverton Hotel lies on the edge of the market town of Tiverton in the heart of the beautiful mid-Devon region.It offers spacious en-suite bedrooms, all with TV, hairdryer, iron / ironing board, WiFi and tea / coffee making facilities. Singles are doubles for sole use.
There is no lift but many of the rooms are on the ground floor and remaining rooms just one floor up.
