Special Bruges Weekend Including Carpet Of Flowers
- Duration: 4 days
- Board Basis: Bed & Breakfast
- Tour Ref: D2TCRU8109
- Travel Type: Coach
With its lacework of narrow cobbled streets, gabled houses and tree lined canals, together with the friendliness of the Flanders people, Bruges is one of the most beautiful towns in Europe. Often described as the ‘Venice of the North’, Bruges was untouched by the industrial revolution that ravaged other European cities in the 19th century. You can stroll through the old streets or take a delightful trip on the canals. Time seems to stand still in these unspoilt surroundings where lace makers work at their intricate craft. Watch the horse drawn carriages trot past and sample the delicious handmade chocolates.
Included in this weekend is a visit to Brussels to see the "Flower Carpet". First created in 1971, this extraordinary spectacle is assembled by a hundred volunteers in just 4 hours every other year for just one weekend on the Grand Place, one of Europe's most beautiful squares. This year sees the 21st Flower Carpet which will be 75m long by 24m wide and contain over 600,000 colourful begonias.
