DAY 2 - 4 At leisure with two included excursions and one optional excursion

INCLUDED EXCURSIONS
Weald & Downland Living Museum & Chichester
This morning head off to the unique Weald & Downland living Museum, an open-air museum with a collection of over 50 rescued rural buildings spanning a period of 600 years in a picture-perfect setting - 40 acres of beautiful landscape in the South Downs National Park. The collection tells the untold stories of the people who lived and worked in rural South East England for over 1,000 years. You may recognise the museum as being the home of the BBC's 'The Repair Shop' series and it is a remarkable microcosm of South East English history.

Continue the short distance to the lively Georgian town of Chichester, the county town of West Sussex, located at the foot of the South Downs and almost entirely encircled by its medieval walls. There will be time at leisure to explore the streets of elegant 18th century town houses as well as the magnificent cathedral and other points of interest include the Chichester City Cross. The award-winning Novium Museum, right in the heart of the city is well worth a visit (entry FOC). It is built over the remains of a Roman bathhouse and tells the story of Chichester District over the past 500,000 years.

Arundel Castle & Gardens & Littlehampton
Set high on a hill in West Sussex, this great castle commands the landscape with magnificent views across the South Downs and the River Arun. Built at the end of the 11th century by Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Arundel, the castle has seen sieges, battles and even a visit from Queen Victoria. It was one of the first English country houses to be fitted with electric light, integral fire fighting equipment, service lifts and central heating. Explore the extensive grounds and perfectly-kept gardens – the Stumpery Garden is a unique, magical spot with a woodland garden feel.

Early afternoon head back down to the coast to Littlehampton, full of nostalgic charm. With award-winning beaches, the beautiful River Arun and a large seafront green, popular Littlehampton is the ideal place to spend some leisure time. Return to the hotel late afternoon.

OPTIONAL EXCURSION
Wonderful Worthing or Brilliant Brighton
Head along the coast to the classic seaside resort of Worthing - a lively destination for shopping, eating and entertainment. Its wide, flat palm-lined seafront promenade is ideal for a stroll and the Art Deco architecture of the iconic Worthing Pier adds a touch of historic class. Alternatively carry on to Brighton, the city by the sea and surely one of Britain's most colourful, bohemian and vibrant seaside resorts with a hedonistic joie-de-vivre like no other. What a great place to spend a day whether you want to reminisce about the heady days of the mods and rockers, are keen to try the futuristic Brighton i360 or to explore the maze of tiny alleyways called The Lanes. Or you could just blow the cobwebs away with a stroll on the Palace Pier.

DAY 5 - After a leisurely breakfast, it's homeward bound with a stop en-route (time permitting) before heading to interchange and your home towns this evening. Back to top
