Your Itinerary

Days 2- 4 At leisure in Peebles with 2 included excursions.

Melrose
Enjoy some free time in Peebles with its picturesque main street set on a ridge between the River Tweed and the Eddleston Water and one of the most handsome of the Border towns. Peebles is bursting with tales from the past, not to mention picturesque architecture and fine buildings everywhere you look. Some of these are even thought to date back to the 11th century. The town is full of relics from times gone by, including an old Mercat Cross and the ruined Cross Kirk. Late morning rejoin the coach to Melrose. The triple peaks of the Eildon Hills are the most distinctive single landmark in the Scottish Borders. At their feet in the valley of the Tweed lies Melrose. Ruined Melrose Abbey dates from 1136. A casket discovered believed to contain the heart of Robert the Bruce was marked by a re-burial ceremony and commemorative stone tablet.

Biggar & Moffat
A royal burgh since 1451, Biggar still retains its medieval layout. The main street is lined with centuries-old houses and Biggar Kirk dates from the 16th century. Biggar has associations with various historical figures, including William Wallace and Bonnie Prince Charlie. One of the town's main attractions is a world famous Victorian puppet theatre. Biggar also has some wonderful museums, including the Biggar & Upper Clydesdale Museum and the Biggar Gasworks Museum, the only preserved gas works in Scotland. Southwards to Moffat for some free time and sightseeing.
