Day 2 - 4 - At leisure in Rüdesheim with two included excursions. From your centrally located hotel, you can easily explore the town on your free day. See the world-famous Drosselgasse with its cosy traditional wine taverns and historic half-timbered houses, take a riverside stroll, sample the local cuisine and meet the locals. A cable car can take you from the town over the vineyards up to the Germania monument (fare not included).
There is no better way to discover the glorious Rhine Valley than from the deck of a boat. Join the included Rhine Cruise from Rüdesheim to Sankt Goar for a leisurely morning afloat in the UNESCO World Heritage Middle Rhine Valley, the most dramatic part of the river as it cuts deeply through the hills. Pass by fairytale castles, steep forested hillsides, romantic riverside villages and of course, the legendary Lorelei where boatsmen were said to have been lured to their death by her haunting song and enchanting beauty. Disembark at Sankt Goar for time at leisure to explore and have lunch. The coach will take you back to Rüdesheim later today.
Head further east along the Rhine today to the fashionable city of Wiesbaden, capital of the State of Hesse. One of the oldest spa towns in Europe, Wiesbaden still has its hot mineral springs which attracted movers and shakers since the days of the Romans. It is an ultra-sophisticated city with magnificent neoclassical buildings, beautiful expanses of parkland, elegant shops, ornate villas and tree-lined avenues. Wiesbaden is a town for wandering and enjoying!
