BEST WESTERN CALCOT HOTEL - 3 STAR
The location for 1960s film ‘The Eagle Has Landed’ is an apt venue for Mapledurham at War - re-enactors from all over the country converge for the weekend, to set up camp as if it were World War II, on the beautiful Mapledurham Estate. While army trucks, tanks and cars convey troops around the site, the camp displays show how life was at the time. Wartime amphibious jeeps will be “swimming” in the mill pond. Authentic battles will take place each day and musicians and dancers from the period will entertain the troops. Christine Wallace from the Great British Bake Off will be demonstrating some wartime ration recipes and sharing stories with Jill Vallis about what life was really like for those left at home.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
