Day 1 - From your chosen joining point, your feeder vehicle will take you to the designated interchange point where your holiday begins. After joining your holiday coach, head to Camden Market in North London. This famous market has been going strong since the 1970s and comprises an eclectic collection of over 1000 independent shops and stalls selling original fashion, art, vintage clothing, gifts, hand-made jewellery, accessories and curiosities. For foodies, there are also plenty of cult cafes, top-notch street food, bakeries and bars. Camden Lock and the vibrant market make for one of London’s great days out! Sign up for the Camden Card in advance of travel online at www.camdenmarket.com/journal for discounts at various stalls, bars and restaurants. Head to Elstree this afternoon to check into 4* Holiday Inn Elstree for an evening of good food, fun and a full-on Irish night*! 3-course buffet dinner in the restaurant is followed by live entertainment including The Benn Sisters, Kathy Durkin & the Barry Doyle Band and Stephen Smyth & his band. A licensed bar will be available throughout the evening.
Day 2 - A leisurely start this morning and after breakfast you will depart for the nearby market city of St Albans. The city’s colourful and ancient history includes its Roman heritage as well as beautiful medieval architecture. Why not visit the landmark St Albans Cathedral? It is the oldest site of continuous Christian worship in Britain and at 85m, has the longest nave in England. Be sure to see the medieval wall paintings and of course, the shrine of St Alban, Britain’s first martyr. NB the cathedral is at the top of a steep hill (but downhill from the town centre). There are many small, independent shops as well as high street stores and a great range of eateries and restaurants. Your driver may be able to drop you at the Verulamium Museum (entrance not included) to uncover the secrets of everyday life in Roman Britain. After time at leisure, you will head to interchange to pick up your feeder coach back to your home towns.
