Itinerary

Day 1- After joining your holiday coach, head north for the big drive to Scotland with suitable stops en-route. Check into your Troon hotel for your 3 night stay DBB

Day 2 – A short drive to Ayr late morning, a popular seaside resort, complete with a charming seafront and a fantastic esplanade with a long sandy beach, perfect for a stroll. Then enjoy a unique encounter with Scotland’s favourite son at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in the pretty village of Alloway. This flagship museum is set in 10 acres of the poets’ cherished countryside and includes the humble cottage where he was born as well as a modern museum which houses artefacts from his life including handwritten manuscripts. The village is also home to the iconic Brig O’Doon, the narrow, arched bridge that Tam o’ Shanter raced across on horseback. Return to the hotel for an early meal prior to setting off for the main event, ‘Illuminight’. The dazzling light show is fully accessible and designed for all ages and abilities and the self-guided designated route is approx. 1.5km. Good footwear and warm clothing are recommended and care should be taken due to uneven surfaces and outdoor conditions. Illuminight is an immersive experience where you can expect state of the art lighting installations, interactive components and specially commissioned visual and music effects.

Day 3 – A relaxed start today before heading to Scotland's biggest city, Glasgow, on the River Clyde. Known for its culture, style and friendly locals, vibrant Glasgow offers a blend of internationally acclaimed museums and galleries, stunning architecture, fantastic shopping and a diverse array of restaurants and bars. The architecture is an attraction in itself with impressive Victorian mansions and public buildings together with the sublime masterpieces of one of the city's most celebrated sons, the legendary Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Your driver may be able to offer an optional guided city tour. You may be interested to visit the excellent Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum with its first-rate art collection and diverse objects from around the world or the award-winning Riverside which holds an excellent ensemble of historic vehicles (both free entry). Christmas shoppers should head to Glasgow’s ‘Style Mile’, largely pedestrianised, it incorporates the three main shopping streets and over 1,500 shops from Argyle Street to Buchanan Street, and to the unpronounceable Sauchiehall Street (so-key-hall).

Day 4 – It’s been fun but it’s time to head south, back to interchange and homewards, with many happy memories.
