Glorious Lake Garda in September

DAY 1 - After joining your holiday coach, you will travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to France. Continue via the autoroutes to Central France to your overnight hotel, 3* Campanile Troyes Nord Barberey. BB

DAY 2 - Relax and watch the rural French scenery unfold on the way to Switzerland for a one night stay - clear air, mountains and lakes awaits. Overnight at the 4* H+ Hotel Engelberg with dinner included tonight (may be buffet or set menu). DBB

DAY 3 - After a leisurely breakfast continue through Switzerland and the Gotthard Tunnel  to cross into Italy and onto Riva del Garda, your holiday base for the next five nights. Your holiday price includes porterage, pre-dinner cocktail on one evening, Trentino dinner one night and Gala dinner one night. DBB

NB The hotel's location in the historic centre of Riva requires a walk of approx. 300m to where the coach and drop off and pick up at the edge of the Piazza. 

DAY 4 - 7 - At leisure in Riva del Garda with three included excursions. 

The hotel is located right in the heart of Riva del Garda so there will be plenty of opportunity to explore. Why not visit Rocca di Riva, the ancient castle which today houses a local museum or the 13th century clock tower (admissions apply). Enjoy a stroll along the lakeside promenade or saunter through the beautifully preserved, pedestrianised Citta Vecchia (Old Town).

Romeo & Juliet's Verona
Journey to the magnificent old city of Verona, famous for Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet'. Bordered on three sides by the River Adige, the streets of Verona's ancient centre follow the layout of the Roman city. Upon arrival you may either explore the city on your own or join the optional guided city tour by coach and then on foot (details from your driver)

Lake Garda Cruise to Limone & Malcesine
Just a short walk from your hotel to board a boat this morning for the trip to charming Limone sul Garda on the western shore. Spend some time here to explore one of Italy's most beautiful villages, surrounded by lush Mediterranean landscape and famous for its mild climate and centuries old citrus fruit production, you can still see the typical lemon houses in operation. Back on board the boat to head across the lake to Malcesine, nestled in the shadow of Monte Baldo. Malcesine is one of the most attractive towns on the whole lake and has, for decades, drawn writers and artists with its picture perfect setting and historic castle. For a spectacular view over Lake Garda there is nothing to beat a ride on the Malcesine cableway (costs not included - approx. €30 full fare return in 2026) which rises to 1600 metres in just ten minutes to the top of Monte Baldo. Return to Riva this afternoon by boat

Bardolino & Sirmione 
A scenic drive today as you head south along the lakeside to Bardolino, one of the prettiest towns on the lake, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. It is best-known for the wine made from the grapes grown in the surrounding hillsides. There is an excellent market on Thursday mornings which stretches along the lakeside promenade. Continue to Garda's southern tip of the lake where Sirmione, a narrow peninsula of cypress and olive groves, juts into the lake. The historic centre, entered over the Scaligeri Castle drawbridge across the moat, is a maze of narrow alleyways, filled with shops and cafes.  Return to Riva later via the autostrada.  

DAY 8 - It's arrivederci to Lake Garda today as you depart for the big drive north to your final overnight at 3* Sunday Hotel Saarbruecken. BB

DAY 9 - After breakfast, continue to France for the return crossing to England. Back to top

This welcoming 4* hotel is a traditional Italian hotel in a prime location on the main piazza of this historic resort town. There are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants within walking distance and the area come alive at night.

Guestrooms are simply and elegantly furnished and feature TV, hairdryer and air-conditioning. Single rooms are doubles / twins for sole use.

There is a cosy restaurant and bar with vaulted stone ceilings and an attractive outdoor seating area in the piazza.

There is also a fitness and spa facility which includes sauna and steam. There is a lift but some internal steps to some rooms
