DAY 1 - Cross the Channel from Dover to Calais. Continue through Belgium into Holland to the old milling city of Zaandam, once home to thousands of windmills for evening embarkation of the MV Esmeralda. Once aboard, bags will taken to the cabins and you will enjoy a welcome cocktail and 4-course dinner this evening. Ship remains docked in Zaandam overnight
DAY 2 – This morning you will have the opportunity to join the optional visit to Zaanse Schans, the living open-air museum with its working windmills, bringing the 18th and 19th centuries to life. Departing from Zaandam at midday, cruise to Amsterdam with time this afternoon to explore the Dutch capital. Full board and dock overnight in Amsterdam
DAY 3 - Board the coach today for a full day included excursion through the glorious Bulbfields and enjoy an included visit to Keukenhof Gardens. Rejoin the MV Esmeralda this afternoon in Hoorn, an historic city with its picturesque port on the shores of the IJsselmeer (NB there is no included lunch today). The coach cannot pull up alongside the ship in Hoorn and a very short transfer by electric bus will therefore be made from the coach park when re-boarding the ship. Dinner on board and dock overnight in Hoorn
DAY 4 – A full day afloat today with an early departure and a leisurely cruise from Hoorn around part of the impressive Ijsselmeer and then onto the canal city of Alkmaar with its pretty streets and impressive 15th century cathedral. Arriving late afternoon, you may like to take a wander through the town before enjoying the Captain’s Farewell Dinner on board. Full board and dock overnight in Alkmaar
DAY 5 - Disembark early this morning and head back to Calais for the return Channel crossing and the journey home

Due to the access to the ship, the occasional need to dock one or more ships abreast and it not always being possible to get the coach immediately close to the ship, there may be a need to get from the road onto the quay areas and use gangways. A reasonable degree of mobility is therefore required. For navigational reasons and passenger safety, the captain reserves the right to modify the cruise itinerary if necessary.
Dress Code on board is informal but it is requested that no shorts or denim are worn during dinner in the restaurant. On the Captain’s Farewell Dinner evening some passengers like to dress up for the occasion but this is entirely optional.
Tipping – This is entirely at the discretion of the passenger and should reflect the satisfaction with the services you have received. There is an envelope in the cabin should you wish to leave a tip for the crew. A recommendation is approximately €5 per person per day.
Voltage – 220V / 380V European 2 pin continental adaptor is requiredBack to top
