This is a favourite of many Crusader Holidays’ customers. Pretty as a picture, the Austrian Lake District, is a glorious region.You visit the ‘Sound of Music’ city of Salzburg as well as Berchtesgaden, one of the most scenic places in the Bavarian Alps.
Your holiday base is the ever popular Tirolerhof Hotel in St Georgen im Attergau, a quiet village in the Salzkammergut region approximately 4km from Lake Attersee.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.

Day 1 - A morning departure to Dover and your ferry crossing to Calais. Continue through France and into Germany for your overnight hotel stop. Bed & breakfast.
Day 2 - Drive on for your first sight of the magnificent Alps and scenic Austrian countryside to the resort of St. Georgen im Attergau for your 6-night stay. Dinner, bed & breakfast.
Day 3 - 7 - At leisure in St Georgen im Attergau with four included excursions. St Georgen im Attergau and surrounds is pure, unspoiled nature with its gently rolling foothills appealing to both the more physically active and those seeking to relax and unwind. A guided walk through the village and a presentation on the area will help you to get to know your surroundings.
Salzkammergut, Mondsee, St Gilgen & St Wolfgang
Journey through the lake district, known as the Salzkammergut to the beautiful village of Mondsee, by the shores of a crystal-clear lake surrounded by lush forests. You can see the church where the wedding between Maria and the Captain takes place and then it's on to St Gilgen, a village that was a source of inspiration for Mozart. A stop in picture perfect St Wolfgang before heading back to the hotel.
Salzburg & The Sound of Music
Salzburg - one of Europe's most enchanting cities, famous as the birthplace of Mozart and the setting for "The Sound of Music". A charming Baroque city in its own right, it is dominated by the magnificent Hohensalzburg Fortress, church steeples, quaint courtyards and magnificent buildings. There will be the opportunity to join an optional guided city walking tour.
Hallstatt - Pretty as a Picture
Hallstatt on the banks of the Halstättersee is a photographer's delight. There will be an opportunity for an optional boat cruise on the lake.
Berchtesgaden & optional visit to the Eagle's Nest (Kehlstein)
Berchtesgaden is one of the most romantically scenic places in the Bavarian Alps. This much loved, historic old market town and scenic mountain resort has great charm, an ornate palace and a working salt mine. You have the opportunity to take an optional local bus up the mountain road and then ascend by lift, through the rock, to the tip of Kehlstein, the site of Adolf Hitler`s infamous Eagle's Nest, designed as a birthday present for the dictator. (NB Entrance fees are not included)
By train to Attersee village and then by boat on Lake Attersee, the largest of the Salzkammergut lakes (subject to availability). The main towns on the lake are linked by a regular ferry service and this is one of the best ways to take in the wonderful views.
Day 8 - Today it's farewell to St Georgen as you return through Austria and Germany for the final overnight stop. Bed & breakfast.
Day 9 - After breakfast, we continue through Belgium and France to Calais for the return to England.Back to top
