New Year's Eve - Glasgow
Head to Scotland's biggest city, Glasgow, on the River Clyde. Known for its culture, style and friendly locals, vibrant Glasgow offers a blend of stunning architecture, fantastic shopping and a diverse array of restaurants and bars. The architecture is an attraction in itself with impressive Victorian mansions and public buildings together with the sublime masterpieces of one of the city's most celebrated sons, the legendary Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Shoppers should head to Glasgow's 'Style Mile', largely pedestrianised, it incorporates the three main shopping streets and over 1,500 shops from Argyle Street to Buchanan Street, and to the unpronounceable Sauchiehall Street (so-key-hall). NB some shops may be operating with reduced hours on NYE. Museums such as Kelvingrove Art Gallery and the Riverside Museum are likely to be closed on New Years Eve.

New Year's Day - Drive Out & About
Take a short drive out and about this morning to blow the cobwebs away. Head east to the extraordinary Kelpies, two gigantic horse heads, standing almost a hundred feet high, designed by Scottish sculptor, Andy Scott - a masterpiece of engineering and design. NB the park will be open for views of the sculptures, but the visitors centre (café & toilets) will not. Head back to the hotel with a brief stop at the iconic Falkirk Wheel, the world's only rotating boatlift, constructed to replace a series of 19th century lock gates NB the park will be open but the visitors centre (café & toilets) will be closed and the Falkirk Wheel will be static. Return to the hotel with plenty of time to relax and enjoy the facilities

Alternatively, you may like to relax in the hotel this morning instead and make the most of the hotel facilities or take a stroll around the extensive grounds

Day 4 - It's been fun but it's time to head south, back to interchange and homewards, with many happy memories. Back to top
