There is always plenty of interesting activity along the Rhine with its stream of river boats and barges constantly passing by and its narrower partner, the Moselle, is equally fascinating if a little less bustling. Based in the heart of lovely Boppard with its beautiful pedestrian Rhine promenade, enjoy 4* luxury at the elegant Belle Epoque Bellevue Hotel. Your holiday combines a day to delightful Cochem on the Moselle as well as a day to explore this most picturesque part of the Rhine Gorge including a relaxing cruise to the Loreley.PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Itinerary
4* Luxury on the Rhine Promenade in Boppard
Day 1 - After joining your holiday coach, travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais. Then continue to the Rhine for a late evening arrival at the centrally located 4* Bellevue Hotel in Boppard. Light snack on arrival, bed & breakfastDay 2 - 4 - At leisure in Boppard with two included excursions and a full day at leisure. DBB
A wine tasting of 5 local wines is included in the hotel's historic wine-cellar one evening before dinner (may take place in the atmospheric wine cellars of the neighbouring Ebertor Hotel)
Boppard is a quintessential picturesque Rhine town peppered with half-timbered houses, cobbled streets, cafes and wine taverns. Take a stroll along the lovely riverfront promenade, lined with boat docks, hotels, cafes and restaurants. Just off Boppard’s main street, the pedestrianised Oberstrasse, is the ancient Marktplatz, a favourite with locals and visitors alike. Your stay at the Bellevue includes free entrance to the Alte Burg & Museum ('castle' of Boppard) built by King Richard of Cornwall in 1256. It is directly on the banks of the Rhine as its main purpose was to secure tolls from passing boats (closed Mondays). Free use of selected local public transport is also included (please ask hotel for details).
You may also like to take a ride on the Hunsrück Mountain Railway - a journey that will take you over two viaducts, through five tunnels and up to a height of over 300m. Opened in 1908, this was formerly a rack railway. You can be sure of a wonderful view on the journey from Boppard to Emmelshausen taking you through Boppard's forests on one of the most delightful mountain railway routes in Germany. Bingen-am-Rhein and Panoramic Rhine Cruise to Sankt Goar
No visit to the region would be complete without a boat trip on the Rhine and you have an included 80-minute panoramic cruise from Boppard to Sankt Goar with views of the famous Loreley Rock. The scenery is simply spectacular and is certainly the very best (and most relaxing) way to enjoy the river. Disembark at Sankt Goar, a quaint little town with a welcoming atmosphere and then continue by coach via Bacharach with its beautiful market square and half-timbered houses with a final stop in Bingen-am-Rhein where the Rhine meets the Nahe. The town overlooks the legendary stone Mouse Tower on the island in the middle of the Rhine
Cochem on the Moselle
Over the Hunsrück hills today to the ancient Moselle town of Cochem with its many medieval squares, tangle of narrow alleyways, beautifully restored houses and dramatic castle perched on a rock towering over the town. It is one of the oldest wine regions in Germany and Cochem is surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards everywhere you look. Take a stroll through the old centre to discover the winding cobblestone streets and cute shops and cafes which make you feel like you have stepped back in time. The mighty medieval gate built in 1332 has been a landmark for hundreds of years as has the Reichsburg Castle (steep walk up or shuttle service). Cochem also has a scenic chairflt that takes you up 155m to enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the Moselle (approx €8 pp return in 2025)
Day 5 - Expect an early start today to travel back through France to Calais for the return to England

EES
EES (European Entry & Exit System). This is the new entry and exit system for UK citizens (and many other citizens) when entering or exiting the EU. For more information, please visit https://travel-europe.europa.eu/en/ees
The new Entry/Exit System (EES) will start operations on 12 October 2025.
European countries using the EES will introduce the system gradually at their external borders.
This means that data collection will be gradually introduced at border crossing points with full implementation by 10 April 2026
ETIAS
The ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) 'Visa-waiver' programme will start operations in the last quarter of 2026.
Please note: Once implemented ETIAS will be compulsory, like a Passport. No ETIAS - No Entry. It is your responsibility to make sure you have the required documentation in place.
