Day 2. Head south through wintery Germany into Bavaria to arrive at your city hotel for your 4 night stay in Munich. Welcome drink on arrival.

Day 3 - 5. At leisure in Munich with two included excursions.

You will have a free day to explore the local Christmas Markets of Munich under your own steam. Public transport links are excellent - approx. 20 minutes to Munich centre by public bus with a stop right outside Hotel NH Munich Messe to the nearest S-Bahn station.

Travel north from Munich today to Nuremberg, Bavaria's second-largest city and the unofficial capital of Franconia for the most well-known Christmas market in Germany. Steeped in traditional and with over 400 years of history, the Christkindlesmarkt comprises about 180 wooden stalls, festooned with red-and-white cloth presenting their traditional wares and crafts including Nuremberg spicy gingerbread, bakery goods, sweets and typical Christmas articles such as angels, cribs, tree ornaments, candles and toys. An included walking tour with a local guide will help you get the most from your visit and give you some background to Nuremberg, a city of emperors and princes, leaders and followers, inventors and scholars.

The Alpine music, festively decorated huts, handicrafts, culinary specialities of the region as well as the Lüftlmalereien (traditional painted house façades that are popular in this region) can be enjoyed in the magnificent glow of Christmas lights. Yuletide spirit abounds at the Garmisch Christmas Market in the pedestrian zone. Partenkirchen Christmas Market in the historic Ludwigstrasse is transformed into a winter wonderland with its own unique and charming Christmas Market. The scent of freshly baked Christmas biscuits and mulled wine, as well as the sound of traditional Christmas music float through the air.

Day 6. Loaded down with all your Christmas goodies, you travel back to your final overnight stop in the Cologne area with suitable refreshment stops on the way. Bed & breakfast.

Day 7. Back to Calais and the return ferry crossing to Dover, arriving home during the evening.
