Your Itinerary

Day 1 - After joining your holiday coach, head to Portsmouth with a refreshment stop en-route to join the ferry across to the Isle of Wight and then continue to your resort hotel, the 3* Channel View Hotel or the 3* Brunswick Hotel, for your 4 or 6-night stay. DBB

Day 2 – 4 (or 6) At leisure in Shanklin with two or three included excursion and one or two days at leisure in resort

Shanklin is located at the southernmost tip of Sandown Bay, sheltered by Dunnose Point, which offers a stunning backdrop of the tall cliffs of Luccombe and St Boniface Downs beyond. The Old Village of Shanklin is extremely pretty with plenty of quaint shops and old-fashioned tea rooms

IOW Donkey Sanctuary, Godshill & Model Village (all tours)
Set in the beautiful natural countryside of the Wroxall Valley, the 55‑acre donkey sanctuary is a wonderful place to explore. Founded in 1987, the sanctuary provides a loving, forever home for over 100 rescued donkeys and equines in need, many of whom have health conditions and are older. Many of the animals enjoy meeting people and will say hello over the paddock fence! There is also a gift shop and café. Next stop is the beautiful Godshill Model Village, nestled in the grounds of the Old Vicarage. Set in nearly two acres of gorgeous, landscaped gardens this is a real retro find - a quintessentially English attraction. You will find scale models of Shanklin and Godshill villages as they were in the 1920's. The cottages, pubs and churches are faithfully reproduced versions of the real buildings in 1/10th scale. The garden railway is a must see - a snapshot of the Island Line of yesteryear! Then enjoy a stroll through the picturesque old village of Godshill itself with its delightful, thatched cottages, gift shops, tea rooms, ice cream parlours, pubs and a church up on the hill.

Cowes & Osborne House (all tours)
Cowes is the maritime gateway to the Isle of Wight and known for both its rich royal heritage as well as its yachting pedigree. Take a stroll along the High Street, Parade and Esplanade for wonderful views of the bustling harbour and across The Solent. There are plenty of independent stores that fill the High Street, with numerous quality pubs, restaurants and cafes mingled in. Cowes' sister town, East Cowes is just across the River Medina (accessible by floating bridge (£1 pp per crossing in 2026). Built in the style of an Italian Villa, palatial Osborne House was the much-loved seaside home of Queen Victoria and her family until she died here in 1901. Its Italianate style befits its island setting overlooking the Solent which reminded Prince Albert of the Bay of Naples. The sumptuous furnishings and manicured gardens give a glimpse into the lavish lifestyle the Royal Family led here. You can visit Queen Victoria’s private beach is just a pleasant 20-minute stroll from the palace. Time permitting, your driver may be able to make a brief stop at nearby St Mildred’s Church in Whippingham where Victoria and Albert were once regular members of the congregation.

Ventnor Botanic Garden & Ventnor (7 day tour only)
Ventnor Botanic Garden is set in a unique microclimate that’s around 5°C warmer than the rest of the UK and protected from the cold northerly winds by chalk downs. Spread across 22 stunning acres, the garden is home to over 30,000 rare and exotic plants from around the world, thriving in natural outdoor settings. Just a short distance from the seafront, this unique garden is unrivalled for its variety of subtropical plants, including its impressive collection of succulents and cacti, flowering aloes and mature palm trees. There are regular displays and art exhibitions as well as a gift shop and cafe. After your visit, enjoy some free time in Ventnor (or V-Town to those in the know), a real gem with its famed microclimate, shingle beach and zig-zag approach to the seafront. Ventnor was well known as a health resort in Victorian times with Charles Dickens, Karl Marx, Sir Winston Churchill and Mahatma Gandhi amongst the icons of the past to take the town’s air.

Return Day - After breakfast, join the mid-morning ferry back to the mainland and onwards to interchange.

The Channel View Hotel, Shanklin (May, June & September)

This popular 3* hotel boasts the most amazing and picturesque views of the English Channel, The Channel View Hotel is sat atop the cliffs of Shanklin Bay in an idyllic location with a downhill walk to the seafront.

The hotel always gives visitors a warm welcome, good service and excellent food.

Hotel facilities include restaurant, bar, lift to most floors (some internal steps) and entertainment on some evenings.

There is also an indoor heated swimming pool and sauna.

All bedrooms are en-suite with TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Seaview rooms are on request and subject to availability and supplement


















The Brunswick Hotel, Shanklin (July & August only)

Housed in a historic 150-year-old Victorian building, the family-owned 3* hotel offers scenic English Channel views with good access to local coastal paths, the Shanklin Cliff Lift, Shanklin Chine and beaches.

It is located in peaceful surroundings with a beautiful garden overlooking the Channel - an ideal place to enjoy a drink.

There is a heated indoor pool and sauna as well as a small outdoor pool (June - Sept only).

There is a smart restaurant area and lounge/bar with garden/sea views.

Comfortable guestrooms offer all mod cons including TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. There is no lift but some ground floor rooms. Seaview rooms are on request and subject to availability and supplement
