Newark & Southwell Minster
Off to Newark-on-Trent, a historic gem of a town boasting one of the finest Georgian market squares in the UK (market day on Saturday). It is also home to the excellent National Civil War Centre (admission not included - approx. £8.50 pp in 2026), the remains of a dramatic riverside castle and some lovely independent shops and coffee shops. You may like to call in at the Newark Antiques Centre, one of the largest in the region and centrally located in the town. The centre is located in a former chapel and school room where you will find over 50 stalls selling a wide range of vintage jewellery, glassware, silverware, antiquarian books, ceramics and period furniture.

Enjoy free time in Newark before continuing to Southwell for a visit to the famous Minster. Take in the awe-inspiring view as you approach those impressive towers looming up over Southwell. The Minster wouldn't look out of place in Game of Thrones and never fails to inspire wonderment at the human capacity to conceive and create such an incredible, iconic structure. Built over Saxon and Roman foundations, it blends 12th- and 13th-century features, including zigzag door frames and curved arches. Its chapterhouse features some unusual stained glass and detailed carvings of faces, animals and leaves of forest trees. A guided tour is included

Out & About in the Peak District - Buxton & Bakewell
Founded in 1951, the Peak District was England's first national park with 555 sq miles of glorious open English countryside. Start the day in lovely Buxton where you have time at leisure to explore. Set in Derbyshire's rolling hills, Buxton's fortunes were built on its natural water springs which attracted health tourists at the turn of the century. Today, visitors can enjoy the flamboyant Regency architecture, Georgian terraces and manicured parks. Take a stroll through the lovely Pavilion Gardens and enjoy Buxton's wealth of independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Return via gorgeous Bakewell, birthplace of the delicious Bakewell pudding, and boasting charming honey-coloured buildings and a medieval bridge over the River Wye

Day 4 - Enjoy a hearty breakfast this morning before boarding the coach to head back to your local area with an interesting stop en-route before interchange.
