Day 2 -
Visit to Cambridge before returning to the local area.

Enjoy breakfast before travelling into the centre of Cambridge. Abounding with exquisite architecture, exuding history and tradition, and renowned for its quirky rituals, Cambridge is a university town extraordinaire. The tightly packed core of ancient colleges, the picturesque riverside 'Backs' (college gardens) and the peaceful meadows surrounding the city give it a more tranquil appeal than its historic rival Oxford. The buildings here seem unchanged for centuries, and the college buildings have seen countless prime ministers, poets, writers and scientists come and go

With Christmas just around the corner, get ahead on your to-do list by stocking up on gorgeous gifts at local independent boutiques and familiar brand stores. Whether you’re on the hunt for a quirky handbag, unique homewares, beautiful jewellery or exotic accessories, you're sure to fund what you're looking for in Cambridge's varied shopping scene. A firm favourite, particularly for Harry Potter fans, is The Department of Magical Gifts on Rose Crescent – which looks and feels like Diagon Alley – to be transported into a world of nostalgia

Head back to your local area after time in Cambridge

Accommodation

Norfolk Hotel

The Duke's Head Hotel, King's Lynn
This historic 4* hotel faces the market square and is less than a minute's walk from High Street. Its striking powder-blue façade, a study in Georgian elegance, is very much a part of King's Lynn's Market Place. It's the quintessential market town hotel - a handsome hostelry with history at every turn, restored and restyled. Over the years it has hosted an impressive guest list including political icons, princesses; the who's who of King's Lynn's past - the Dukes Head has played host to them all. The hotel combines period charm and contemporary chic and spacious guest rooms offer comfort and modern facilities including tea / coffee making facilities and flat screen TV. There is a restaurant and lively bar. A lift serves the modern part of the hotel whilst some 'classic' rooms are accessible by stairs alone. Back to top
