Your Itinerary

DAY 1 - After joining your holiday coach, you travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais, then continue to your overnight hotel in central France. BB

DAY 2 - Continue your journey through the heart of France and into the borderlands on the way to Andorra for your 3-night stay with a welcome drink on arrival. Buffet dinner (with water & wine included), bed & breakfast. There is a free bar each evening (20.30 - 23.30) on selected drinks including water, soft drinks, house wine & beer, local spirits, tea & coffee.

DAY 3 - 4 - At leisure in Andorra La Vella with one included excursion.

The hotel is approximately 20 minutes' walk to the centre of Andorra La Vella, Europe's highest capital (1023m) where you will find the graceful stone mansion, Casa de la Vall, Andorra's former cosy parliament building, constructed in 1580 as a home for a wealthy family (closed Mondays - entrance approx. €5). The historic quarter (Barri Antic) has changed little over time with its intriguing architecture, narrow cobbled streets, small squares and low houses. You might pass by La Noblesse du Temps, the surrealist bronze sculpture by artist Salvador Dalí, featuring a melting clock & angels, located on the banks of the Valira River, very close to the Tourist Office. Stroll along the Avinguda Meritxell in the modern part of town where you will find many restaurants, cafés and a great many shops offering all manner of goods. This is also where Pas de Casa is located, the first port of call for many bargain hunters looking to benefit from Andorra's low tax and duty free prices (particularly perfume, alcohol & tobacco) DBB

Take a tour today through three countries with a local English-speaking guide - Andorra, Spain and France. In the morning, you cross the border into Spain, to La Seu d'Urgell, one of the most historically important towns in the Catalan Pyrenees with beautiful Romanesque buildings dating to the 11th century. Tuesday is Market Day so pick up a bargain or two. Drive on to visit the riverside town of Puigcerda, set on the border with France, with free time for lunch. The town is home to the beautiful 15th century Gothic church of Santo Domingo, the Gothic belltower of the bygone church of Santa María and the arcaded main square (Plaza Mayor). This afternoon, continue via Mont Louis with its UNESCO world Heritage listed city walls before making a brief stop at the French Pyrenees ski resort of Font Romeu (1800m), 'The Queen Resort of the French Pyrenees'. Return to the hotel in Andorra.

DAY 5 - Depart Andorra La Vella this morning for the drive back into France to the ancient walled city of Carcassonne, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997. The fairytale-like citadel, complete with drawbridges, cobbled streets, turrets and zigzag battlements, La Cité is many people's idea of the perfect medieval castle. You will have the afternoon at leisure to explore this medial gem and with your overnight hotel, 3* Ibis Styles Carcassonne La Cité, just 300m (10 mins walk) from the city walls, you may like to venture back into the town later this evening when the crowds have dispersed and you can really appreciate its medieval charm. The hotel also features an outdoor pool. Set dinner menu, bed and breakfast.
