The Night of the Loreley
Every year villages and towns along the Rhine Valley celebrate a series of spectacular 'Rhine in Flames' Festivals. Sensational firework displays light up the sky and flotillas of river boats illuminate the pretty stretches of the River Rhine where thousands of people watch on in awe. Join this fabulous weekend break based in central Koblenz, at the confluence of the Moselle and Rhine rivers, and experience the 'Night of the Loreley - Rhine in Flames' extravaganza at the twin towns of St Goar and St Goarhausen from the deck of a river cruise boat complete with 3-course set dinner and music.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
Itinerary
Your Itinerary
Day 1 - After joining your holiday coach, travel to Dover for the short sea crossing to Calais. Continue via the auto-routes to arrive at your 4* hotel centrally located in colourful Koblenz this evening. Late supper on arrival at hotel. There is no hotel dinner on Saturday as dinner is included with the cruise.
Day 2 - Enjoy a leisurely start and a relaxed breakfast in the hotel before boarding the coach later for a scenic drive along the banks of this most picturesque part of the Rhine Gorge. Make sure you have everything with you that you need for the afternoon and evening as you will not return to the hotel until very late, after the Rhine in Flames Spectacular and dinner cruise. Head off to St Goar, a quaint little town with a welcoming atmosphere and enjoy views of the fabulous scenery and the famous Loreley Rock by day. Then head to the delightful medieval town of Boppard with its pretty old town and lovely Rhine promenade. You will board your boat in Boppard (departing at 18.15) for an evening afloat which culminates in the spectacular firework display - 'The Night of the Loreley'. Enjoy a 3-course set dinner with music as you cruise towards St Goar and St Goarhausen where the flotilla gathers in teh narrow part of the valley for the impressive display set against the magnificent backdrop of Katz Castle and the ruins of the Rheinfels fortress. The boat returns to Boppard at approx. 23.30 where your coach will take you back to the hotel.
Day 3 - Enjoy a lie today with a day at leisure to explore Koblenz. Perhaps take a stroll along the riverside promenade or head to the charming old town with its cosy wine taverns, narrow alleyways, romantic spots and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. and the German Corner with its emperor monument are just a few of the sights to be discovered in Koblenz. The famous Deutsches Eck, or German Corner, is where the Rhine and Moselle converge, and closeby you will find the Koblenz Cable Car which offers a breathtaking ride over the Rhine to the mighty Ehrenbreitstein Fortress at 118m above the river (fare not included - approx. €14 pp in 2022). A walking tour of Koblenz's historic old town is included today with a local English-speaking guide to show you the best of the one of Germany's oldest towns.
Day 4 - After an early start, travel back to Calais for the return to England.

4* Mercure Hotel Koblenz is a modern, high-rise hotel beautifully located on the Rhine, next to the Electoral Palace. Full renovated in 2018, it is about 1 km from the Deutsches Eck and the historic old town (approx. 15 minutes' walk). There is a smart international restaurant as well as the 'Riverside' bar and a lift to all floors. Contemporary guestrooms feature TV, free WiFi, safe and tea/coffee making facilities.
