Calling all flower enthusiasts and green fingered gardeners! With a dazzling Dutch displays of tremendous tulips, divine daffodils and handsome hyacinths, you are sure to appreciate Springtime in Holland when you can expect rainbow carpets of flower fields blooming into a beautiful patchwork quilt of colour. You can tip toe (or skip or waltz!) through the tulips at the world famous Keukenhof Gardens, the breath-taking park which opens for just eight weeks a year to show off the millions of bulbs planted annually.  Your tulip time holiday stays very close to Keukenhof Gardens itself and is well situated for a visit to the heart of the bulb growing region. Your holiday includes a day out in Amsterdam and Volendam.

Itinerary

DAY 1 - A morning departure to Dover for the short sea ferry crossing to Calais. Then travel through Belgium before entering Holland and on to your holiday hotel, arriving in the early evening. Dinner, bed & breakfast

DAYS 2 - 4 At leisure in Holland with TWO INCLUDED excursions.

Bulbfields & Keukenhof Gardens
After breakfast tour around the glorious bulbfields of Holland where the continuously drained soil of the polders creates perfect growing conditions for the tulip bulbs which love well-drained but moist soil. Enjoy an included visit to Keukenhof Gardens, the Dutch Master Growers showpiece which rightly draws visitors from all around the world to marvel at this spectacular sight. Over 7 million flower bulbs are planted every year and the gardens and pavilions comprise a fantastic collection of tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, orchids, roses, carnations, irises, lilies and more – an overwhelming spectacle of colour and perfume. During the day there will be the opportunity for an optional guided cruise on the Kaag lake.

Volendam & Amsterdam
Visit the quaint and picturesque old fishing village of Volendam and the former Zuider Zee where many of the local inhabitants still wear the traditional costumes. You will stop by a local clog maker and a cheese farm and then continue onto Amsterdam, with its compact centre packed with art museums full of masterpieces, historic scenic canals, atmospheric lanes, crooked merchant buildings, house boats, bikes and inviting cafes.  You will have the opportunity of an optional guided city tour.

OPTIONAL EXCURSION (5 DAY TOUR ONLY)
Delft & Scheveningen
Drive to the picturesque historic town of Delft, known for its blue ceramics and delicious pancakes. A visit will be made to the world famous Delft Pottery and Showroom before you continue on to Holland's most famous seaside resort, Scheveningen. A much loved North Sea resort, you will find a superb beaches and dunes, a gigantic and very striking pier with its many attractions. Take a stroll along the boulevard and soak up the glorious seaside atmosphere.

RETURN DAY - After breakfast, depart for Calais and the ferry crossing to Dover, arriving home during the evening.

Located in the heart of Zoetermeer, with easy access to the town centre (approx. 20 mins walk), the 4* Golden Tulip offers excellent hospitality. The new 4* Holiday Inn Voorburg is a stylish and contemporary hotel located within walking distance of historic Voorburg, a neighbourhood of The Hague (approx 7 km away). In Voorburg you can explore the charming Herenstraat with its shops and cafes or maybe visit the Huygens' Hofwijck museum. There are also regular train services into the centre of The Hague. Guestrooms are air-conditioned and feature all mod cons including tea / coffee making facilities. The open lobby concept features a restaurant and bar and there is also a small fitness centre
